| Abstract | High resolution image data open new possibilities in remote sensing digital image classification, particularly when dealing with classes that are spectrally similar. For this reason, software of image classification provides new techniques for object classification based on image segmentation. Segmentation is the subdivision of an image into separated regions. For many years, image segmentation procedure is the main research focus in the area of image processing. Many shape features presents in the software are based on statistics of the spatial distribution of the pixels that form an object image. This work presents methodologies of extraction of feature for image digital classification. The objective of the work is to extract feature of shape of the regions of a CBERS 2B image (High Resolution Camera) in such way that improve the efficiency of the classification process. In the scale of image processing, it is often necessary to take into account the shape of the objects to achieve a proper identification when separating objects with the same spectral signature. The system was developed in IDL/ENVI. The classified images separated based only on spectral attributes did not discriminated well the different patterns while the image classified based on shape, the pattern were better discriminated. Further studies are being done aiming to implement evaluation methods for classification. | |||
